André Plays the Pan Flute
The Pan Flute is a centuries-old instrument which came into existence in various places of the world. Today the Pan Flute can be heard in combination with many other instruments and is a perfect compliment to the piano. In 2007 André introduced the haunting sounds of the Pan Flute to his repertoire of live performance instruments (which include the Chinese Bamboo Flute or Dizi, and Irish Whistle) and upon special request will play a small selection of favourites for your special occasion.

The pan flutes used by André are professionally made by skilled panflute artisans. All instruments are perfectly and individually tuned to produce the richest tones available.
André’s three-octave Grand Tenor Pan Flute is crafted of mountain maple. In a process spanning from the forest to the flute, the maple is personally harvested by panflute craftsman Marek Tesluk in the forested mountains of Poland, and aged to bring out optimal sound quality, offering the full range of an orchestral silver flute, with beautiful low notes and brilliant highs.
André’s distinctive Soprano Pan Flute has been handcarved by New Zealand craftsman Brian “Woody” Woodward in the traditional curved shape from a single piece of pure walnut. Developed from the bamboo model, it has a richer tone with notes that are clear and reaching. As well as the emotive sound produced, this instrument has a sculptural beauty that makes it unique.
